Complete these 4 steps to set up your Google Ads Account:
- Follow Google’s self-guided campaign creation process.
- Set your budget to the allowed minimum ($4.94/day)
- Enter your billing information
- PAUSE YOUR CAMPAIGN!!!
Step 1: Follow Google’s self-guided campaign creation process.
After creating your new Google Ads login, they will walk you through a quick campaign creation workflow. You’ll be asked a few questions about your business, your target audience, and goals. Answer these to the best of your ability. You and your Account Manager can always go back and edit the campaign later on.
When you get to the budget section, follow Step 2 below.
Step 2: Set your budget to the allowed minimum ($4.94/day)
You can adjust your budget in the future, when your campaigns are ready to launch. For setup purposes though, set the daily budget to the minim of $4.94/day. You want to make sure you’re not wasting loads money if you forget to follow Step 4 and don’t pause your campaign.
Step 3: Set up your billing information.
The next step in the self-guided onboarding workflow is to add the credit card that you would like to pay for your ads with. As long as you follow Step 4 and pause your campaign, you will not be charged.
Step 4: PAUSE YOUR CAMPAIGN!!!
Congrats! You set up your first Google Ads campaign. While it’s probably an amazing campaign, your safest bet is to pause it immediately. Since it takes some time for your ads to be approved and start showing on Google, if you pause it within a few minutes of creating it you will not be charged any money.
To pause it, go to All Campaigns > Details > Pause Campaign:
4.1 All Campaigns
4.3 Pause Campaigns
Your campaign is now paused! If you’d like to learn how to build more expansive campaigns in your account, you can follow some of AdHawk’s best practice resources:
